About the Role
This full-time, on-site New Business Development Manager role is based in Auburn Hills, MI. The New Business Development Manager for Non-Automotive customers will identify and qualify new business opportunities, build a robust sales pipeline, and drive revenue growth across target industries. Responsibilities include researching and approaching prospective customers, conducting discovery meetings, and delivering tailored sales presentations that highlight Autosplice’s interconnect solutions and manufacturing capabilities. The role involves managing early-stage customer relationships, coordinating with internal engineering, operations, and product teams to develop proposals, and negotiating commercial terms in line with company objectives. The New Business Development Manager will also monitor market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to refine go-to-market strategies, provide accurate sales forecasting, and maintain up-to-date records in the CRM system.
Requirements
Minimum 10+ years of experience, in a combination of key account management positions, senior APQP project manager and 5+ years of experience in the role of a senior connector product design engineering.
Technical expertise in electrical / electronic connectors and contact elements (plated stamping contacts), a wide knowledge in press fit technology would be ideal. Technical expertise in other fields of electromechanical components, such as relays, switches might be sufficient, if candidate shows great talent in transfer of skills and knowledge from known products to connectors and contact elements.
Technical expertise in related manufacturing processes: progressive stamping, reel-to-reel plating, plastic injection molding, and automated component assembly.
Knowledge and experience in the electromechanical components markets, preferably in connector market and component applications in automotive electronics devices like ABS/ESP Systems, combustion engine control units, etc.. Knowledge and Experience of handling Tier-1 customers, considering the role of OEM car manufacturers and competitors.
Knowledge and skills in typical IATF 16949 and conforming processes within the company.
Knowledge in product cost calculation.
Ability to evaluate contracts with customers and negotiate contracts.
Strong Communicative, ability to build up trustful relationship to existing and new customers.
Has experience in cooperating with European manufacturers and building bridges between USA and Mexican customers and engineers.
Development of new business with new customers in the field of Non-Automotive Electronics Devices for customers in Industrial, Ag/Con , AI and tier 2-3 applications.
Development of new business with existing customers in the field of Automotive Electronics Devices.
Support function / program management with exiting business with automotive electronics customers (customer calls, pricing, production capacity management, customer complaints, …).
Strong new business development and lead generation skills, with a proven track record of opening and developing new accounts.
Experience in sales and sales presentations, including the ability to communicate technical and value-based solutions to diverse stakeholders.
Background in account management, with skills in nurturing relationships, understanding customer needs, and supporting long-term partnerships.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, finance) to shape proposals and close opportunities.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills, with proficiency in CRM and standard business software tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Willingness to travel to customer sites, industry events, and other Autosplice locations as needed.
